Linda Pisti Basile Katehi-Tseregounis was a professer of Electrical Engineering at the University of California in 2009. She also served as sixth chancellor but resigned because the President of the uniersity thought (and investigated) that she violated the policies. She was heavily involved in STEAM and talked about it in her Huffington Post blog.


She was born in Athens, Greece and grew up on Salamis Island in Greece. She was admitted to the National Technical University of Athens after she graduated from high school. In 1977, Katehi graduated with a degree in electrical engineering, and was also captivated by the Apollo 11.She sated once that while she liked the launch, she was most captivated with the engineers in charge of the launch.


After two years working as a researcher at the Ministry of National Defense's Naval Research Lab in Athens, she was encouraged by a mentor to apply to graduate school at University of California, Los Angeles. She came to the United States in 1979. She went on to earn her master's degree and doctorate in electrical engineering at UCLA's Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Sciences in 1981 and 1984, respectively.
